Easter 2013

This year on Palm SundayAudrey participated in the Palm parade at church while Hudson looked on with us.
(Sorry about the poor quality of the pic but Barker took it with his phone.)

When it was over Barker took him to the nursery where he promptly passed out on the changing table. ha! The woman in the nursery said she just stood there next to him the whole time so he could sleep. : )  Spoiled little guy.

After the service and Hud's power nap we let them run wild and free at lunch and St. George's Greek Orthodox Church egg hunt.
Huddie likes to pick them up one at a time and inspect the contents.
He's more quality over quantity.

Audrey gets a game face on and hustles. She doesn't care so much about what is inside until it's over. She might be competitive like her daddy after all.

It was Hudson's first time but Audrey had already participated in an egg hunt at school...

plus I hid some after dinner last Saturday night so the Blancher boys could hunt eggs with us with flash lights. Cause all kids love flash lights, or torches, as Audrey calls them.

We always hunt eggs and do the fun kid stuff before Easter so that Sunday is just church. And it's a good thing because during church service today the thunder and lightening kicked in (loudly) so the only eggs these kids are going to see are the ones the Easter bunny left this morning with doughnut holes in them.

They received their baskets early due to Audrey's egg hunt at school being the week before Easter, due to spring break. I don't think the kids minded them being early.

I don't do candy in their baskets so Audrey scored clothes, shoes, toys, crafts, gardening supplies and fruit snacks.

Hudson landed yogurt covered raisins and fruit snacks because next to cars, balls, myself, and his daddy, yogurt raisins and fruit snacks are all he really cares about in life.

On the way home from church today almost all of the lights were out at the intersections so the kids decided it was napping weather. I'm hoping the rain will let up some so we can splash in puddles again this afternoon.

Azaleas at Norton Art Gallery

The Norton Art Gallery has decided to build a fence around the azaleas so no one can take pictures anymore (where will all the Shreveport brides go?) so we hustled over to take a few shots while we still could... even though Audrey was so not feeling it due to her allergies.

Hudson's buddy Andrew met us there.

 Audrey loves Andrew, too.

Audrey picked every flower (weed) there.

This is the closest to decent picture I could get of the two of them.
Hudson was all over the place.

Showing me his teeth. He has a lot. And they're razor sharp.

Yes, poor Huddie's hair is always this crazy. It's not like I don't fix his hair, I even blow dry it. But still it has a mind of it's own. It fits his personality perfectly.

Rare sighting of his serious face.

This is how he usually looks.
Crazy face

This makes me laugh. It looks like it was taken at K-Mart or Sears.

Barker giving me his 'I've been coaching since 8:30 am and it's now 6. Can we please just go home?' face. And yes, he is already this tan. I didn't tamper with the color on this pic at all. Sigh.

Cute, but exhausting... hence Barker's face above.

Hud Muffin attacking the camera. 90% of the pics I take look like this, but blurrier.  He's a tornado.

(sorry Barker)

Audrey asked to wear her 'Dorothy Gail' red sparkly shoes. She doesn't usually care what she's wearing and never asks for much (except for treats) so I let her wear the red glitter shoes with her Easter bunny dress. They don't match at all but if it makes her happy and doesn't involve sugar, I'm in.

Spring Break Soccer Camp Style

Barker took Audrey to TFC's spring break soccer camp. But first he took her to Krispy Kreme and Target. He let her pick out a new pair of soccer shorts because her legs won't quit growing in length (sorry kid, that's my fault) and her daddy felt her soccer shorts were all too short for his daughter to play in. When he couldn't find a burka he let Audrey choose. And this is what she came up with...and yes you could see her from space. Guess that's one way to keep track of your daughter in a sea of children.

Caldwell Zoo

It's Spring Break so we hit up the Caldwell Zoo with our friends the Blanchers and a few other families. It was really cold and Texas had already had their spring break, so we had the place almost to ourselves.

We saw a lot of animals. Audrey was really excited to see the giraffes and penguins. It was relief to find out they did in fact have both at this zoo.
Hudson said 'What's that?' to most and pointed. Except for the big cats, then he pointed and said 'Cat.' The mountain lions and tigers came right up to the window where I parked his stroller.
It is a very hilly zoo so he was locked in the stroller for the majority of the day but had a grand time hoofing it when I let him out for a little while during lunch.

There was a great play area with tunnels, sand toys, a tractor and old Ford truck to play on.

It was an excellent way to start Spring Break!

Sci-Port

Last week we all ventured to the Sci-Port museum for the first time.
It was fun!

The kids loved playing in the children's area.

Yep, this teaches kids to noodle. No lie. Welcome to Louisiana.

Hud was so excited to see a bath tub. His favorite thing to do at home is dump non bath tub toys, cups, and shoes into the tub.

The things we do for love.

There was this one display where you squirt water at each other via water guns in a glass box. Audrey kept squinting and holding her nose like she was going to get splashed in the face. It was so funny.

Dr. Audrey checking out my teeth

Barker especially liked the bit where you can throw a ball and it will clock your pitch.

Audrey spent a lot of time with the dominoes.

Our favorite part was the roof top terrace.
Audrey decorated a cookie.

My sweet boys watched some trains.

Audrey loved looking at the moon. Always has.

And there is a Counter Culture there, too.
So we finished off our trip with some fro-yo. Good day!
