Giving Back What I Borrowed

In the wake of the tragedy in West, Texas Barker and I donated blood. I wasn't sure if they'd take mine since 5 out of my 7 pints were recently acquired, and I've spend a good amount of time in the UK. Then I remembered there was a weight requirement, which was why I couldn't ever donate in college, even though I tried several times. Thanks to Barker's new attempt at making a weekly Krispy Kreme visit a tradition (one I oppose, but perhaps not as strongly as I should) I just barely squeaked by the weight requirement. That will make a girl feel good!

So I went first, showing Audrey that she shouldn't be nervous.
The lady taking my blood was quite concerned about me. She told me I needed to drink a lot and eat something from their snack bar right away and kept asking me if I felt like I would pass out. Barker said I was very pale, for me that is.

I didn't feel sick, was just not so happy that they were going to make me eat peanut butter cookies which would seriously cut into my calories I had allotted for Barker's chicken parm that night. And she said I couldn't work out today, or even pick up Hudson. Crap. That left me no way to burn off calories to make way for more chicken parm. If they'd had his recipe they'd know what they were denying me. Yum.

Then Barker went, with his veins that are always sticking way out of his skin just begging to be poked. He's playing in a soft ball game later because he feels just fine. Oh and he's still going on his morning run with Adam and Scott, which made me feel even more puny.

Anyway- even though I'm bummed that I can't get my work out in today I'm glad to give back a little of what Barker paid a fortune for a year ago. Pass that pricey blood onto another.

Nice Day for a Drive

Brunch at Marilynn's Place after church, planting vegetables, listening to the Ranger game, and a nice drive... that's how we enjoyed the Sunday sunshine.

My Life in One Picture

I found this blurry pic on my phone. It really captures the tornado my life has become since these two were born. A soccer ball in the house, the house covered in toys and books, Barker and Hudson doing something that makes me nervous that they find just hysterical. Oh and as I was typing that last bit about Hudson doing something dangerous he tripped, 12 ft from me, busted his lip and chipped his other front tooth. No lie. And yes, I said other front tooth because he chipped his first front tooth in Feb after having it just a couple of months. Sigh.
How do you keep a kid from knocking all their teeth out when they're just walking? It's not as if I'm feeding him rocks for breakfast.
Being married to someone as active as Barker and being the mother to his constantly moving, and not so graceful kids is not for the faint of heart. And he wonders why I worry so much more than most people. And....Hudson just tripped again. Seriously.

A day in the life
