Wicked

Last summer Emily came in from Baton Rouge and a bunch of us got together to see Mamma Mia, hang out at Hotel ZaZa, and had an all around great girl's weekend.

This year we saw Wicked. And it was awesome.

(Audrey hung out with her Daddy and all the husbands at Brad's.)

It was a nice couple of days. Mandy organized it all so that we ate really fatty food all weekend at Gloria's, The Screen Door, and The Grape, but because I lived of Special K Vanilla Almond the week before, I managed to not gain a pound. And what could be better than that?
Already looking forward to next year!

Happy 2nd Birthday Dixie Gray!

Misty's daughter Dixie turned 2 recently and we were happy to help her celebrate at her Minnie Mouse Birthday Party.

The girls played well together.

I love this pic of barker slathering sunblock all over Audi. But it was worth it cause they loved playing outside.

But I think they liked the cake and cupcakes even more.

We got Dixie a beach bag full of educational goodies.....which I'm sure quickly relegated me to least favorite party guest!

A Sad, Sad Day

I recently had a sad, sad day when my favorite restaurant, Cafe 'n Chocolat, closed it's doors. My friend Mieke's mom owned it and was just tired of being in the restaurant business.

I was super bummed to hear this news so Mieke and I took the girls for a farewell lunch. Guess I'll have to learn to make my own crepes. Yeah, right. Like that would ever happen.

Father's Day 2010

For Father's Day this year we visited a few museums Barker had never been to, and had lunch at a Cajun restaurant on the river in Waco.

First we went to the Texas Ranger's museum. Audrey rode a wooden pony and played dress up.

Me and my sweet potato

It seems she inherited her daddy's fake smile.

(Yes I realize my roots are terrible, but my appointment isn't until Wednesday night. Boo.)

Then we hit up the Texas Spots Hall of Fame and Museum.

Audrey liked playing all the college fight songs. All of them. A lot. And then some more.
But we were the only people there so I just let her have at it.

The coolest part of the sports museum was the simulator.

Again, we were the only people at the museum so Barker and Audrey played there for quite a while. They did the baseball, football, soccer, and basket ball challenges.

He stayed away from the hockey and golf game because we didn't want any of Audrey's teeth to get knocked out on a Sunday. (She was all over the place.)

And all that running around finally caught up to her. She ran up to Barker and said "Up."

...And was passed out in a matter of minutes. She stayed asleep for well over an hour. When we got home she was well rested and ready to jump in the pool. It was a great ending to a perfect day.
Happy Father's Day honey! You are BY FAR the best daddy I could ever imagine.

A Draw and Some Paint

Lately there has been a lot of World Cup action going on in our living room.

I guess Audrey wanted to watch the game somewhere else cause she put my England hat on her baby, grabbed her purse and said "Bye Momma!"

But she had to stay because her friend Ciera came up to play with her while the grown ups watched the US and England draw.

I also played with paints for the first time since I was 5.

I know I look quite serious here but this is just another thing I stink at. But it was still a lot of fun!

My finished product that I had hoped would be good enough to go in my new navy kitchen. But I doubt Barker actually hangs it in there. You can totally tell it's the first thing I've ever painted. If he does hang it, please squint your eyes and walk quickly past it when you visit.

Take Off Your Shoes and Stay a While

We love when our Arlington friends come up to visit! This visit was supposed to be all about bubbles and swimming...but it rained. So we played inside until the rain let up, and then let the kids play in the little splash pool on the back porch.

Eliza, Colin, Gray, Lucas, Cam, baby Audrey and my Audrey

sweet Baby Audrey

Colin cheesing, as usual

Audrey and Colin pretending to nap

Lucas tugging on Baby Audrey

Abbey made some frozen yogurt for the kids to enjoy outside....so the kiddie pool came in handy for the clean up!

Gray having a ball in the pool

Cam, Gray, Audi, Baby Audi and Eliza enjoying their frozen yogurt (yes, this was at my house and yet my child is the one w/o the swim suit...I would have put her in it but she wanted nothing to do with the kiddie pool that day, it's the big pool or nothing with her lately.)

Blow It Up

Schaffler taught Audrey to 'blow it up' Saturday night. She loves to say "Psssssshhhhhh"
I think she could learn to do the 'shopping cart' that Will does so well after a few drinks. But he thinks she's still not ready. Maybe next time.

The Jungle Book

Slappy's Puppet Playhouse at The Dallas Galleria had it's final showings this week. They're moving to a new location. So I wanted to take Audrey to see the Jungle Book before it was too late. My friend Abby and her daughters Eliza and baby Audrey met us there.

After the show we took the girls to play.

Audrey really liked to slide.

They worked up quite an appetite so we grabbed a bite to eat before heading home.

baby Audrey eating her fries with vinegar! So cute

My Audrey making funny faces at me. I guess she saw another kid doing it because every time I broke out the camera she'd pull a funny face.

And sweet Eliza.

Then we went home for a quick nap and a long dip in the pool before Barker's softball game. Audrey had two swimming lessons this week. The first one she cried, which is to be expected when someone other than myself has her in a pool. The second one I went in with her and she did everything I told her to. And my Friday she was jumping off the side to me and going underwater. My little water bug.
