Just Because

Pretty flowers call for an impromptu photo shoot!

Had I planned to snap any pics I would have fixed Audrey's hair... what is it about Louisiana that makes it so crazy?!

my little loves and their fake smiles

Yep, definitely would have done our hair if this quick stop had been planned.

Such a ham!

Teddy Bear Olympics

Audrey's school held 'Teddy Bear Olympics' which is like field day, but with their favorite stuffed animal.

They had a parade, torch, flag and said the Pledge of Allegiance.

Then...let the games begin!

Audrey loved playing with the parachute.

And she was great at throwing the football through the hoop.

And basketball was fun, too.

But the bean bag toss was where she really shined!

The kid's eye hand coordination was quite impressive.

It was by far her favorite game. I think she's gonna have to start throwing washers in the yard with her Daddy.

She could have done this all day.

When I let her pick a stuffed animal to take she chose her Centenary monkey.

The obstacle course cones ended up as hats. Go figure, they're two.

After snack Ms. Tracy read them a book and let them play before the pizza party started.
Fun times : )

Take Me Out To The Ballgame

Monday evening we braved the cold to watch Barker play softball with Jay and Repsie.

Funny Photos

So I was going through some old pictures and things this weekend. Sadly most of the pictures were ruined over the years but I managed to find a few hysterical ones of Chase dressed as a little old man on various occasions!

Found a few of myself, too.

Do the bangs tip you off that I was a child of the 80's?

(just threw out that Gizmo a few weeks ago)

Sadly poor Audrey did not inherit my good hair. : (

Here are some of myself and my brothers...

Don't I looked thrilled to have a baby brother?

Since he was on wheels I probably shoved him into the street right after this one. Just kidding. I'm sure I was a perfect angel.

Man do I wish Jeff still owned this Pac Man shirt he's rocking! Bet his boys would love it!

Jeff- dirty knees and all!

Growing Like a Weed

As far as veggies and some fruit goes, my dad grows most of ours in his gardens and greenhouse, because we try to be as organic as possible. But this year Barker has decided to do a few plants at our house. Audrey really enjoyed starting the seeds with him.

Hope she got his green thumb and not mine!
(And on a side note, her hair was fixed when we went to church. But then it drizzled and craziness ensued.)

Third Crawfish Boil of the Season

We're off to a good start. Our 'monthly dinner' with our Dallas friends ended up being our third crawfish boil of the season! Not bad, not bad.

It was a beautiful day so the guys played some game I think they called 'Redneck golf?'
Ian tried to teach Audrey how to play.

As you can see she's a natural. She gets it from her Daddy. Team Barker-Ware beat the pants off Team Sadler-Pinkston, from what I hear. I didn't actually witness the defeat as I was inside due to the sudden drastic drop in temperature. I arrived in a sundress. Not smart. Luckily Mandy loaned me a sweater and some running pants and Uggs to put on under my dress when it got dark. I was quite fashionable.

The Little Mermaid

On Friday I took Audrey to see The Little Mermaid at Slappy's Puppet Playhouse. She enjoyed the play, as always. But she went nuts when she saw the 'Yellow Submarine' hanging from the ceiling of the theater. I hadn't even noticed it. She jumped out of her seat and yelled 'my Yellow Submarine!' Luckily I was able to grab her before she caused any damage!

I don't even know where to begin.............

So this was quite the unusual weekend for us. I'll try to just give you the main points.

On Friday we headed to Shreveport for the golf tourney Barker plays in most years. We arrived on Friday at the Everson's house only to find a film crew. Everson was elected to the city council and seems to know everyone in town. But even before that you never knew who you would meet when you were out with him. However a film crew was definitely new.
So we just walk on into their house like we own the place. Since there are probably 20 people on the porch and in various rooms on the ground floor, knocking on the door wouldn't have done much good. We still have no idea what the film crew is for. And then we see the host of Cheaters and Barker is like "Uh oh. I think that's the guy from Cheaters. This can't be good." But we just made our way upstairs to find the Everson's and the pugs. Turns out the film crew is there using his house to film an episode of a reality-parody show. Kinda like how Reno 911 makes fun of Cops. This show makes fun of all the new 'Ghost Busters' type shows that seem to be on every cable channel these days. Anyway- all of the crew and cast members were super nice and made a good choice when they selected the Everson's house because it's 100 years old and beyond amazing.
That night we go to dinner at Superior's Steakhouse and eat until we can't even look at food, then we retire to the patio. After a while I see this guy walking through the parking lot alone, towards the doors. He looks familiar to me and he's looking right at me, too. So I just keep on staring, trying to figure out where I know him from. I don't know many people in Shreveport and Barker and his friend don't seem to recognize him. Then as he walks into the restaurant it dawns on me. I think to myself, 'Oh! I got it! He looks like that guy from one of my favorite movies, Dear Frankie. And all those chick flicks like P.S. I Love You and The Naked Truth. Gerard Butler. Only if Gerard Butler forgot how to shave and wash his nasty hair.' So I don't mention it to anyone else and we go on about chatting since we're the only people on the patio other than one guy off in the corner. Then some 45 year old cougar stumbles out on the porch and asks Barker for a cigarette. He obviously doesn't have one but someone else does. She says thanks and then asks 'Do ya'll know Gerard Butler and Jessica Biel are inside?' I just laughed. They're in town filming some soccer mom movie. It's amazing what airbrushing, lip implants, good lighting and body doubles can do for an actor. I had thought the guy walking in looked a bit like Gerard Butler after a week of being stranded in the desert but not a one of us had recognized Jessica Biel! She looked hardly anything like the woman you see in pictures from the Oscars and in the crappy movies she somehow manages to land. All the guys just turned and looked at her and weren't sure it was really her. We just couldn't get over how completely plain she was. Nothing worth turning your head to look at. Those make up and hair people, clothing stylists, and airbrushers earn their paychecks.
Then next morning we went to Wine Country for brunch, then Barker went to play golf and us girls decided to soak up some sun by the Everson's pool. It was a gorgeous day and the heater had warmed the pool to just the right temp!
That night when the boys finished with golf we headed over to the Sig house for a crawfish boil. By this point I'm sure you've noticed I didn't take any pictures. The older we get the more I realize I had better just leave the camera at home the one time a year Barker and his friends decide to act as if they're still in college. So we ate our weight in crawfish and then some people may or may not have played beer pong. Some others may or may not have jumped off the roof of the Sig house. But at least they wore sunblock on the course. That shows how they've matured, right?
I then drove them to a casino. Soon after that I drove them back from the casino and Barker was up over a hundred dollars. He was in fact the only one that was up any money, hence the quick trip.
Sunday we hit up Superior Grille for lunch and got on the road. Barker had a soccer game but we stopped by the Schaffler's first to drop something off and visit with baby Quin. Audrey chowed down on a banana and anything else Will gave her while the rest of us took turns holding Quin's cute, chunky self. Then we let Audrey stretch her legs on the playground by the soccer fields since she'd been in a car for a couple of hours. We had a car picnic (since it was windy) during the game and watched Barker score 2 goals.
It was an awesome weekend full of great friends (Barker really is blessed in that department) and lots of food....probably too much food. It was the first time I REALLY didn't want to get up for my 4:45am boot camp class. But I made it, worked hard, and was back asleep by 6:15! Whew!

Cead mile failte!

It's Saint Patrick's Day again. In the US that means another day of wearing green and for us, an Arlington Mommies party filled with green treats and great friends!

This was taken the first year we went to the Saint Pat's party...

sweet cheeks!

And she got this hat at the party our 2nd year in the group...

It's still in her dress up box.

And finally, herself at our 3rd AMMG Saint Pat's party.

My how the time does fly : (

We love these parties because we get to see all of the friends Audrey has grown up with...

Cam Cam, Oliver and Grayden

including our favorite little Irish-Texan Princess...

Ciara

And we've made some new ones along the way!

D and Evie : )

We also made the Prosper Moms Group's St. Pat's party on Wednesday. I took my camera but never got around to taking any pics, oops!

A Life of Saturdays

It used to seem like we had a 'busy season' every year, followed by a few months of not having plans upon plans. There were weekends every now and then when Barker got to work on his 'honey do' list or we just got to lounge around. But I'm beginning to see those days are gone. We just started March but we have plans every weekend until the middle of June. I'm not complaining! I love our friends and I look forward to all the memories we'll make.

This weekend was a good one. Barker ran a 10k and had an outdoor game. He had 2 goals. He also planted 9 rose bushes for me. (Cue the Travis song "Flowers in the Window") I got a hair cut (oops!) and we made some sweets to take to a crawfish boil at the Cefalu's.

After we made them we let Audrey lick the mixer. Definitely on the top ten list of best things about being a child : )

Then we headed over to the Cefalu's.

Audrey just had to 'pet' them.

I love how much she trusts her daddy.
