Don't Look Down

Barker and his friend Cefalu got passes to this place near Barker's office to do some serious indoor rock climbing after work a few times a week. He also had a soccer tourney this weekend. That's 5 games in 2 days. Whoa. Lots of running. So on Monday they thought it would be a good idea to go climbing for 2 full hours. He wasn't sore like I thought he'd be. He took some over night recovery pills and they must be made of miracles. I could never do rock climbing and not just because my arms are only as strong as a 5 year old's but because I'm so scared of heights. Check out this pic he took on his phone.

That's 90 feet people. No way.

Early in the Morning

Early in the morning one day last week Audrey crawled into my bed with a tea pot full of toys. She was also dressed in a tutu. And Buddy Holly glasses.
I just love how all over the place she is.

PS Early in the Morning just happens to be a Buddy Holly song.

Bon Voyage Angie

A few weeks ago my friend Angie moved to NY for her husband's job. I just adore Angie. She's the sweetest thing and such a good friend. So before she left I went out to dinner with her and a couple of our friends from her neighborhood. A sort of going away party. Except that two of us were nursing and another was pregnant. So 'party' might be a bit of a stretch. But I wanted to make sure she got some Tex Mex before she moved to NY since it might not be on every. single. corner. like it is here.

While we went to dinner Barker was nice enough to keep Angie's two ridiculously cute sons, Mason and Macaroni.
Audrey had a blast. And Barker apparently wore them out. Or did they wear him out? I can't remember which. But this is how we found them when we came home. An almost sleep over.

Mason introduced my girly girl to Batman and Spider man and found every single Buzz Lightyear we own. And that's a lot. They played inside, outside and Barker made them dinner. Mason was tossing a couple little Buzz Lightyears into the air and tying to catch them but as preschoolers often do, he missed. And they went into the neighbors yards.
Two weeks later I found Ham, the pig from Toy Story, in the back yard on the top of the slide. So I'm pretty sure the toys launched a rescue mission and all Buzzes should be accounted for soon. But really we have so many I'd never had noticed any were missing.

Audrey and I both really enjoyed being friends with Angie and her boys and we'll miss them terribly. But I'm so excited for them as they set sail on this new adventure!

Ye Olde Daddy Daughter Day

Several months ago Barker won a race (some times it pays to be married to someone that gets up at 5:30am to run) and the gift bag contained all kinds of goodies, including free tickets to Medieval Times!

Audrey is all about princess, knights, kings, queens, etc. I made reservations and was looking forward to seeing the look on her face. Then I hurt my back. Ugh. So Barker made arrangements for a friend of his to take me to a specialist in Waco that treats a ton of professional athletes. The first appointment they had available was the same day as our Medieval Times trip. Boo. And I really wanted her to go before school was out so she wasn't stuck in the back behind a bunch of tall day care kids. So I went to Waco and she went to Medieval Times. But after 2 1/2 hours I no longer have scoliosis. My hips are both fixed as if I never had babies. My collar bone. My ribs. Even my arms. You name it, they fixed it. Yay! And Audrey still got to see the knights. It was a ye olde daddy daughter day.

She had to get up extra early with him to go to his office for a while. Anne added preschooler hair stylist to her receptionist duties for Barker. I'm sure he appreciated it. When I got home that afternoon after her swimming lessons Audrey said she liked going to Daddy's office because people gave her treats. But Barker said that wasn't the worst of it. He said at Medieval Times they gave her Pepsi. Pepsi?! To an almost 4 year old?! Wow. So he said when he realized he only let her have a sip. I hope he's telling me the truth. That is not a habit I want to start. I very rarely have soft drinks myself so I want her to stick with water and milk. You know, the 2 child friendly drinks they actually had in the medieval times.

Anyroad- Barker did take a few pics with his phone. Sorry they're so grainy.
 checking out the horses

 meeting the princess
Barker said they talked for a while.

He bought her a flag and a hennin, which is what you call those princess hats with the veil.
She was in heaven.

 My king and princess

They cheered on the yellow knight.

She also got a ye olde chocolate chip cookie.
That actually sounds pretty good to me because I cut sugar out of my diet nearly 2 weeks ago. Lost almost 5 pounds in 10 days. And that's without even working out since I hurt my back and all. Now that I'm good as new I started back again today.

As soon as they got home she ran right up stairs and put on her yellow dress with her hennin and heels to practice her curtsy.

Oh and a wand.
Do princesses have wands? This one does.

Does iPhoto know something I don't?

Almost every time Audrey and I go somewhere with Johanna and the girls we have people stop and ask us if they're triplets....even though Audrey's clothes never match the twins. We joke that they must think I'm Jo's nanny. Then Hudson was born looking way more like Jo and her twins than like myself, Barker or Audrey. So I wasn't all that surprised today when I uploaded his 5 month pics and the iPhoto facial recognition feature asked of Hudson "Is this Camden?" ha!
No iPhoto, this isn't Camden. But thank you for thinking he's pretty enough to be.

Well Jo it looks like you got just what you wanted, another baby with out having to be pregnant again. Congratulations, it's a boy.

5 Months Old

Wow. How has it been 5 months already?
My sweet boy looks so old here. 5 months was also when Audrey suddenly looked so grown up on her time line.

School's Out For Summer

Today was Audrey's last day of school. They had a big pizza and popsicles party with all sorts of outdoor water games. She had a blast!
Not exactly sure what this pose and silly face is all about??

This is a picture her music teacher texted me. Audrey decided the chairs needed a good cleaning.

I quite enjoy having her home during the summer but I know she'll miss her teachers terribly.

We won't be able to be out in the blazing Texas sun much this summer with Hudson being so young but I have lined up a few fun activities to keep her busy like ballet, Vacation Bible School and swim lessons.
Here are a couple of pics I took of her in action.

Welcome summer. Please be kind to us.

Sharkarosa

We were busy bees this weekend. Between watching a whole lot of Rangers action, we managed to squeeze in lots of fun.

Saturday we visited Sharkarosa, a wildlife park in Pilot Point, about 20 minutes from our house. I saw it on the Discovery Channel while we were in Florida and have been meaning to check it out. I'm glad we did. It wasn't crowded, the weather was nice and cool, and it was a very hands on experience. Barker packed us a picnic lunch since we didn't know how long we'd be there. I made us a big muffaletta sandwich which ended up being way better than the concession stand nachos they had to offer.

This zebra was just 2 weeks old.

My loves on the train.

Hudson was quite intrigued by all the animals.

When we first got on the tram Audrey wanted nothing to do with petting the horses but by the time we got to the camels she was trying to crawl out of the tram and onto any camel or llama that came close enough.

We especially enjoyed the kangaroos.

Audrey got to pet this baby. It had a paci.

lemurs!

This picture made me laugh. This is so typical of my fam. Barker looks serious, Hudson looks confused  (he always looks like he's learning or laughing) and Audrey is cracking up. A day in the life.

This is what he usually looks like. All smiles : )

After Sharkarosa we did some shoe shopping because Audrey's feet never seem to stop growing and then onto dinner and a movie to celebrate Mother's Day. I love my little family.

Sunday was church which featured Hudson in the baby dedication, followed by some much needed down time at home. Barker's game was rained out so we just got to relax together at home for once. So nice. I wish every weekend could be this perfect!
