Jo's 5k
Last year we did a 5k that is near and dear to Johanna's heart. And I'm glad we were able to do it again this year.

It was rainy so I didn't take my camera. But Jo and Ashley took theirs and I swiped this one.

We were out late the night before for a wedding, and had to get up at 6 to get to Grapevine.. and yet Barker still managed to come in 2nd in his age group and 10th over all, even though it wasn't his best 5k time!
After we ran in the rain we all went back to Jo's restaurant, Lazy Bones, for a huge breakfast.

Even though we were soaked to our lazy bones (Audrey stayed dry because I had her covered) we had a great time and are looking forward to next September.

Prosper Homecoming 2010
This week was homecoming so Audrey got to wear her Prosper colors to school.
I made her an outfit that was bursting at the seams with school spirit.

Then we went to the annual homecoming parade.

watching the horses

It looked like rain so I took an umbrella and Audrey enjoyed playing with it.

My sweet face girl
I wish we could go to the game tonight but we have a wedding to go to. Hope it doesn't rain!

Audrey and Jessie
Since Gray Gray and Camden can't be here everyday, Audrey has a new best friend...Jessie. It took me a while to figure out who she was talking about. For weeks I thought she was saying Daisy. And I had no idea who Daisy was. Then I realized she was talking about Jessie. So now she has her, and they go everywhere together.

Jailbreak
Barker did another mud run today.

Scott, Zane, Mike, Stephan, Corey, Kyle and the Rigneys also ran in the same wave.

Meanwhile, Audrey ate her lunch in the shade.
The last mud run Barker did was 2.6 miles (even though it was supposed to be 3.1). This Jailbreak was 4 miles and most people thought it was more difficult, but Barker thought the obstacles were even easier than the Warrior Dash. Barker hated the log rolling he had to do on day 2 of the Warrior Dash. For some reason the people that ran the dash on Saturday didn't have to do it.
But even though it was further and he had a ailing hip, Zane still won. Of course. It took him either 17 or 19 minutes to win the Warrior Dash. It took him 33 for the Jailbreak. The obstacles really bogged down on this one.

He got a medal, case of Monster Energy drinks, and is in a drawing to win a nice watch.

Barker came in 6th even though he's been way too busy at work to train or even run for the last six weeks. (There were still lots of people from the last wave dragging themselves in and blocked my shot. Boo.)

Then Kyle

And Scott

And Mike, not even looking winded after coming in at just over 40 minutes I think.

My friend Corey ran it too, but I missed him crossing the finish line.

All clean

And Miss Peyton was there to play with Audrey while we ate BBQ.
It was a lot of fun and I'm really glad we were able to go.

: )
Wednesday Barker got to pick Audrey up from school. He's been having to work long hours so when he picked her up Wednesday, it was the first time he'd seen her since Sunday and knew he wasn't going to see her again until Friday night. So they we both very excited to see each other.

Audrey's First Day of School
Most parents get all kinds of cute pictures of their kid's first day of school. I obviously did not. Instead, I got a hurricane.

I managed to snap one quick pic of Audrey before we left the house.
She was her usual, smiley self.
(If you're wondering why she's dressed in play clothes, it was super muggy outside, pouring down rain, and they have to wear tennis shoes to school, which means no cute dresses. Boo.)
As soon as I put her down she was in the door and playing away. (She's only there 2 days a week for 5 hours so she has to make the most of her time.) I signed her in and then had to run out to the car to get all of her stuff. I couldn't carry it all, and her, and the umbrella in one trip. When I came back some little girl was crying so of course Audrey looks up at me like "Am I supposed to be crying too?"

Ms. Tracy picked her up to console her but she still looked sad. But I'm sure she was fine once the other little girl quit crying. She's not one to be upset in a room full of toys.
I was hoping to get better pictures when I went to pick her up 5 hours later but due to the ridiculous storms I was trapped and couldn't get out of my neighborhood. There are 4 roads out of here and every one was flooded. I probably could have made it in some huge SUV but my little Acura was having none of it. So I had to call Barker to go get her. I was pretty bummed.
The paper she brought home said she ate most of her lunch, napped for an hour and a half, and went to chapel and music class, so I'm sure she had a great day. But I think I'll always feel bad that I wasn't able to properly document this special event due to the stupid hurricane dumping so much rain on us.

Mr. and Mrs. Martin
This labor day weekend we went to Shreveport for the marriage of our friends Matt and Ashley.
After the wedding we headed over to the reception. I told Barker is was at the Petroleum Club. So we park, go into the building and the man at the front desk asks "Do you know where you're going?" Barker said "Yeah, I've been here before." And we jump in an elevator. On the way up I ask Barker "Do you realize this elevator is where we first laid eyes on each other at Tom and Rebekah's wedding 7 or so years ago?" He replied "Yep! Wait, that was the University Club." We look down at the button and there is a U on it. Then the doors open and we're welcomed into a pirate themed bar mitzvah! So we jumped back in the elevator laughing and hoofed it the two blocks over to the Petroleum Club where the reception was already taking place! Oops!

I'm so glad we were able to celebrate with Matt and Ashley. The wedding was a hit with a great band (they played The Beatles and Van Morrison, so what more could you want?) and fantastic food!
We stayed the weekend with our friends the Eversons and on Sunday we went out to Andrea's family's horse farm.

It was a beautiful day to visit and I think Andrea's horse, Cambridge, enjoyed himself as well.

Jeff and Cambridge
Andrea is a veterinarian and recently adopted two dogs in addition to their two pugs.

Olive has a ton of energy so she got to make the trip to the farm with us.

She even went for a dip in one of the ponds.
It was a wonderful weekend spent with good friends we don't see hardly often enough. And if only I had managed to squeeze in time for a cupcake from Cush's, it would have been perfect!
